FOOTBALL training sessions are being held to help children with additional needs enjoy playing the sport.

Named 'SENsational', the coaching kicked off in Hullbridge last weekend.

And head coach Scott Wallace is keen for as many people to come along as possible.

"I started SENsational to give children with additional needs a safe place where they can develop at their own pace without the pressure of needing to keep up with others," said Wallace.

"My son Archie was going to a football session but we became frustrated with it being very stop start.

"It was very regimented when we got there.

"He’s five, he wants to do things at his own pace and with his ADHD and autism he isn’t going to “fall in line” like your standard neuro-typical children

"At SEN we celebrate each child’s unique superpowers."

And plans are also in place to form a team.

"Our first aim is to get enough players together for a team so we play games against other Soccability teams," said Wallace.

"Then we aim to have a team in every age group which would make SEN the first of its kind as a Neurodiverse football club."

However, Wallace is not working alone.

"At the moment I am being flanked by April Smith who has over a decade worth of coaching in the community and is experienced coaching SEN children of all ages," said Wallace.

"Our training sessions are Saturday mornings at Hullbridge Park.

"It's £10 per session but your first session is always free and sibling discount is available.

"There is also no need for a formal diagnosis."
