MORE than 2,200 runners completed the popular Southend Half Marathon this morning.
Paul Whittaker was the first to finish in a time of one hour, nine minutes and 18 seconds while Ian Butler (1:11:02) took second and David Smale (1:11:28) third.
Katie King was the first female finisher as she crossed the line in 1:22:37 while Rebecca Okill was second in 1:24:30 and Nikki Juniper third in 1:25:01.
The 13.1 mile race starts and finishes at Shoebury East Beach and sees runners completing two loops along the sea front.

Money raised from the event goes to Havens Hospices.
