OLD Southendian & Southchurch were held to a draw at home to Goresbrook at Garon Park on Saturday.
The visitors batted first in the Division Two clash and scored an impressive 166/1 before deciding to declare in a rain affected clash.
Goresbrook opener Jordan Calverley scored an impressive 83 not out while Shane Barwick, who batted at number three, was left unbeaten on 38.
Lee Jones was the only wicket to fall as he was caught by Matthew Darvill off the bowling of Hardik Varma for 27.
Southendian started their innings sluggishly and were quickly reduced to 15/2.
Darvill was run out for 12 before Hafiz Yawer Afzal was dismissed for just two.
However, skipper Max Craddock and Hemanth Kumar Venkatakrishna steadied the ship.
Craddock made 24 and Venkatakrishna 28 but it was Hardik Varma, who batted at number five, who top scored with 53 from 51 balls.
However, Southendian eventually settled for a draw and picked up four points for their efforts.
Southendian are now fifth in the table ahead of seventh placed Goresbrook who took 11 points from the clash in Southend.
Old Southendian will now be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend as they travel to Old Brentwoods.
However, their hosts will head into the game desperate for points as they currently sit second from bottom in the standings with 50 points from their opening six games of the campaign.
In contrast, Southendian now have 74 points.
