LEIGH on Sea skipper James Spencer was full of praise for his side after a 74 run win against Wickford at Chalkwell Park.
The victory kept Leigh third in the Essex League Division Three table.
And Spencer was delighted with all aspects of the performance.
"We came into the game with full belief we could take 25 points if we won the toss," said Spencer.
"The top order, especially Ross Keeley who was fantastic accompanied by Sevriano Cupido, took advantage of the win at the toss to take us to maximum batting points. Once again the seam bowlers were fantastic too.
"It’s the best feeling in the world to have full confidence in whoever you throw the ball to."
Batting first, Leigh scored 215 with Keeley leading the way with 61.
Cupido added 34 and Joe Sexton 31 while Tony Munyonga (3/34) and John Grimes (3/56) were the pick of Wickford's bowlers.
In reply, Wickford were dismissed for 141 with Jack Stead top scoring with 37.
Shaun Du Plessis with 4/41 and Cupido (3/26) were the pick of the bowlers as Leigh came out on top, much to the delight of Spencer.
"The win was unbelievable," said Spencer.
"To come back from the defeat last Saturday to beat a team in Wickford, who we’ve struggled against in previous years, is a brilliant feeling."
But Spencer is determined to build on the victory.
"We are over the moon, however we know we can do even more, especially with the bat," said Spencer.
"Exciting times lie ahead and we know that if we play the way we know we can we can challenge for the top two.
"But for now we are enjoying the cricket and the atmosphere each week as it comes."
