HARRISON Day says he is ready for what the National League has to throw at him.

The teenage striker has joined Dagenham & Redbridge after impressing in attack for Concord Rangers last season.

And the Wickford based Day is excited to be making the step up to the top tier of the non-league game.

“I’m ready for the challenge,” said Day, who scored 25 goals last season.

“I believe it will be a good step up for me and my main attribute is to score goals so surrounding myself with better players will bring the best out of me.”

Day’s work-rate and goalscoring stood out for the Beach Boys last term, despite their relegation from the Isthmian Premier Division.

And his performances caught the eye of Daggers throughout the campaign.

“I was invited to train with them halfway through last season so I had already met everyone at the club and really enjoyed it,” said Day, 18.

“When the season finished they was first to contact me and my development fitted in well with what they are trying to achieve at the club.

“I’m really pleased to be here.”

Dagenham finished 15th in the National League standings last term.

And Day already feels fully at home in his new surroundings.

“I’m really excited to join and already I feel very welcomed from the manager, coaches and fans so I know I’m in a good environment where I can improve my game,” said Day.

“ I have a lot to learn and I feel this is the perfect place to do so.

“I’m just ready to get to work now.”

Day has now started pre-season training with Dagenham ahead of the forthcoming campaign which kicks off towards the start of August.

And he is eager to make the most of the opportunity.

“Overall my target is to improve as an all round player,” said Day.

“As I said I have a lot to learn and I am willing to put in the work to achieve the results.

“This is a step in the right direction for me and I really feel like given the chance I can prove people wrong and show them I am ready for this level.”

But Day remains hugely appreciative of the part Concord played in progressing his career.

“I am very grateful for Concord for allowing me a platform to show what I can do at a good level especially in my first full season in men’s football,” said Day.

“The fans were amazing to me there too and I wish the club nothing but the very best for the future.
