SOUTHEND United wing-back Gus Scott-Morriss has signed a new two year contract with the club.

Scott-Morriss won Blues' player of the year last season after a series of impressive performances.

And the 27-year-old is pleased to be remaining at Roots Hall.

"I'm really happy," said Scott-Morriss.

"It’s been in the pipeline for a couple of months now.

"I'm just really happy it’s got over the line, we’ve all sorted our stuff out and I can’t wait to get going.

"I'm committing to a place that’s on the up and it's only going one way now."

Scott-Morriss has scored 13 goals in 81 games since signing for the Shrimpers in the summer of 2022.

And he is eager to push for promotion next season.

"If we replicate something like last season, and add a few more aspects, we’ll be right in the mix, and that’s all we can really ask for," said Scott-Morriss.

"We want to get out of this division but it’s not going to just happen overnight."
