RAYLEIGH Lawn and David Lloyd Basildon were among the winners during the Essex Tennis Summer Cup finals day.
Rayleigh - whose team was made up of Matthew Cannon with Louis Rawley and Stewart Biggie with Joe Beeching - beat Westcliff Lawn 3-2 in a closely fought clash Men’s Intermediate Cup final.
And Rawley was delighted to help guide Rayleigh to victory.
“We had four great matches and I’m proud of the team for coming away with the cup,” he said.
Stefan Protic with Greg Huggett and Dan Sanderson with Arron Chandler lined up for Westcliff Lawn but were just edged out.
David Lloyd Basildon had plenty to celebrate however as they beat Grove (Saffron Walden) 3-2 in the the Ladies Junior Cup final.
The successful team was made up of Lisa Dicks alongside Mandy Burridge and Anastasia Czelik with Sophia Shoults.
Elsewhere, the Thorpe Bay team of David Tuskin & Lee Blackman and Brad Gordon & Matt Basham lost 3-1 to Wivenhoe in the Men’s Junior Div I Cup.
Hosts Billericay were also edged out as they lost 3-1 to Gidea Park in the Men’s Senior Cup final.
Peter French with Daniel Bagguley and Jack Stammers with Paul Gardener lined up for Billericay.
Trophies were presented by Steve Wynn, the Essex Tennis Competitions Committee Chairman.
Essex Tennis was further represented by John Blewett, Colin Duncan, Sheila Waller and George Sabiniak.
