HARRY Brown helped fire Great Wakering Rovers to a 2-0 win at West Essex on the opening day of the Essex Senior League season.

Brown put Rovers in front before Tony Martin completed the scoring for Marcus Bowers’ side late on.

And the Wakering striker was delighted to pick up all three points in his first competitive game since signing.

“It was really good to get going and get the ball rolling for the season,” said Brown.

“I’m really pleased to be back with Marcus and some of the boys I played with at Basildon.

“I felt welcome straight away and it’s a really good set up here with good ambition.”

Brown is therefore confident of securing success this season and he wants Saturday’s win to the sign of things to come.

”We want to push for that top spot and it would be great to have another cup run,” said Brown.

“We’re really keen to build on what we started on Saturday.

“Hopefully we can put some wins together and go on a strong run.”
