HULLBRIDGE Sports started the Essex Senior League season in fine fashion, thrashing Stansted 5-0.

Sports raced into a 4-0 lead before half-time at the TJ Cottis Stadium.

And Mechack Asuka, who bagged Sports’ fourth goal, was delighted with the manner and the margin of the victory.

“I was very happy with our performance and to get the win in the first game of the season” said Asuka.

“The boys put in a proper shift as we knew it wouldn’t be an easy game but I’m happy to come out with a win and the three points.”

Asuka made the move to Hullbridge from White Ensign during the summer.

And he was thrilled to hit the back of the net on his debut.

“It was exciting times to score my first competitive goal for my new club,” said Asuka.

“The fans was great and made us feel welcomed so I already feel very settled and ready for the season with the boys. “ And Asuka is determined to make sure it is one to remember.

“This season we are hoping for promotion and we are hoping to get few silverware,” said the forward.

“We’ve got a long season to go but we are ready for and taking it game by game.”

Zayshaun Asamoah bagged a brace for Hullbridge at the weekend while Conor Hart and Jack Unwin were also on target.
