HADLEIGH & Thundersley suffered a three wicket defeat at Buckhurst Hill in the Essex League Premier Division.

Hadleigh were put into bat after losing the toss and scored 279/5, thanks to a brilliant 103 not out from Luke Smith.

Oliver Smith added 77 not out but it was not enough to prevent defeat as Buckhurst Hill made it home for the loss of seven wickets, despite the best efforts of Adam Dobson who took 3/82.

Hadleigh remain second from bottom in the table.

In Division One, second placed Billericay drew at Upminster who sit immediately below them in the standings.

Upminster scored 321/6 with Arjun Bhardwaj taking 4/90.

In reply, Billericay ended on 218/9 with opener Grant Roelofsen top scoring with 54.

Billericay took six points from the draw while Upminster secured 12.

In Division Two, table-topping Old Southendian & Southchurch beat Oakfield Parkonians by 71 runs.

Old Southendian scored 215/9 with Ahsan Yousaf leading the way with 70 before Oakfield were dismissed for 144.

Yousaf also took centre stage with the ball, taking 6/36 to send Southendian 16 points clear at the top.

Fourth placed Westcliff also triumphed as they saw off Woodford Wells by four wickets.

Woodford chose to bat after winning the toss and were bowled out for 163 with Muhammad Farooqi (3/34) and Sam Adley (3/43) both bowling well before Westcliff reached the required total for the loss of six wickets.

Alexander Portugal top scored for Westcliff with 43.

In Division Three, third placed Leigh on Sea beat Barking by 132 runs.

Leigh batted first and made 286 with Toby Turner hitting 104 not out and Sevriano Cupido 57 before Barking were bowled out for 134.

Shaun Du Plessis took 5/39 to secure victory.

However, seventh placed Wickford lost by five wickets against West Essex.

Wickford were bowled out for 156 with Paul Corps scoring 62 not out before West Essex made it home for the loss of five wickets.

Elliot Yorston took 2/25 but it was not enough to prevent defeat.

Elsewhere, bottom of the table Benfleet suffered a two wicket defeat at Harlow.

Benfleet opted to bat first after winning the toss but scored just 85 with 59 of them coming from Gavin Blowes.

That meagre total still posed problems for Harlow but they eventually made it home for the loss of eight wickets.

Blowes took 4/24 and Callum Wheeler 4/58.

In Division Four, eighth placed Southend & EMT lost by 92 runs against London Eagles.

Eagles were bowled out for 158 with Matt Mohan taking 6/60.

But Southend were then dismissed for 66 with Mohan top scoring with 24.
