BENFLEET will line up for their first ever home FA Cup clash on Saturday.

The Essex Senior League side host Woodford Town at the Woodside Stadium in an extra preliminary round clash.

And boss Lee Scott cannot wait for kick-off.

“It’s so exciting to be playing in the FA Cup at Woodside Stadium and bringing the FA Cup to the locals of Benfleet for the first time ever,” said Scott.

“We’re so happy just to be here but it would be incredible to get the win and go through to the next round.”

Benfleet lost 1-0 to Woodford on the opening day of the season before beating Ilford 6-3 on Tuesday night.

And chairman Dan Wright is loving every second of an exciting new chapter for the club.

“It’s been the most surreal week for us at Benfleet,” said Wright.

“The response from the local community has been incredible.

“We’ve had more than 200 through the gate both games and Tuesday recorded the highest gate in the league with pretty much a full card of fixtures.

“A home FA Cup tie this weekend really tops the week off perfectly and obviously a win for would be even better.

“But we’re so excited just to be here.”

Benfleet will head into the game on a high after their midweek win which saw Max Jobson score a hat-trick.

And Jobson is pleased to be part of the club’s progression.

“I’ve been with Benfleet since I was a young boy in the youth set up and it’s great to see how far the club have come,” said Jobson.

“It was unreal to score a hat-trick in our first ever game under the lights, and help us get our first win in the new league, especially with such a good turn out from the locals too.”
