BENFLEET are celebrating the first FA Cup win of their history.

The Essex Senior League side beat Woodford Town 3-1 at the Woodside Stadium, thanks to first half goals from Rhys Fatt, Max Jobson and Mason Shave.

And chairman Dan Wright was delighted with yet another memorable afternoon for the club.

“Once again on Saturday we were humbled by the response from the local community,” said Wright.

“For the third game in a week they turned out in huge numbers to watch their local football team.

“We had a crowd of 437 which was so far beyond our wildest hopes coming into the season at our new ground at Woodside Stadium.”

But the final score-line made the game even more memorable.

“A good turnout from the locals was really all we wanted from the game but to then go on and beat league favourites Woodford and progress to the next round was absolutely incredible,” said Wright.

“We’re riding the most amazing wave at the moment and we don’t want it to stop.

“Hopefully we’ll get another decent crowd in the next round and who knows, we might even cause another upset
