JACK Bridge wants more from Southend United - starting against Dagenham & Redbridge on Monday.
The Shrimpers sit 14th in the National League standings after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Barnet.
And Bridge is eager to ensure Kevin Maher's side soon start to work their way up the table.
"We don’t want to be a team in and around it ,we want to be up there," said the wing-back.
"On Saturday the way the game went it felt like there was only going to be one team who were going to win it after we got the equaliser but unfortunately it wasn’t to be."
Blues were on top following Gus Scott-Morriss' equaliser midway through the second half but were ultimately undone by a penalty from Mark Shelton.
And Bridge was frustrated to end the afternoon empty handed.
"It was difficult for us in the first half but the second half was similar to last season," said Bridge.
"We were on top but one thing you can’t do is go on and lose a game when you’re that on top like that. That’s why it’s so disappointing and we know we need to do better."
And that is something the Shrimpers will try and do against Dagenham this afternoon .
"It’s a difficult Bank Holiday in this league as you go Saturday, Monday," said Bridge.
"There’s no time to prepare really but we’ll make sure we’re as fit as possible and we’ll do the work we do every game.
"With 24 hours' recovery though it’s a big ask."
