SOUTHEND United’s match at AFC Fylde has been postponed.

The Shrimpers squad were due to travel up by train for the National League clash.

But a power failure between stations means Kevin Maher's side will not be able to make the game in time for kick-off.

A club statement from Blues confirmed: "Our game against Fylde has been called off .

"The train carrying our players to the game has suffered a power failure between stations.

"The train left London at 10.18am and was due to arrive in Preston at 12.39. Avanti West Coast are in the process of organising an “evacuation train” which will take the players back to London.

"It is unclear when the evacuation train will arrive and so a decision has been made to postpone the game.

"We apologise to our supporters for the inconvenience caused.

"For those who already in Fylde, we have put some money behind the supporters bar for at Fylde - please have a beer on us.

"An announcement about the rearranged fixture will follow in the coming weeks."
