TEN-MAN Hullbridge Sports fought back from 3-0 down to secure a dramatic share of the spoils against Romford.

Sports’ night seemed to be heading from bad to worse when Jake Wiggins was sent off 21 minutes from time.

But a brace from Connor Hart and a late penalty from Freddie Moriaty picked up a point for Hullbridge.

And skipper Ollie Jenkins was delighted with the spirit on show.

“The comeback says so much about how hungry we are as a team,” said Jenkins.

“We want be up there by the end of the season and to have the desire and fight to keep pushing with 10 men just shows how capable we are of being at the very top this season.”

The draw moved Hullbridge ninth in the standings.

But Jenkins is keen to make sure it is a turning point in their season.

“We are all so keen now to go out and kick on with our season,” said Jenkins.

“We have to take each game as it comes and make sure we focus on what’s in front of us but by end of the season we want to be fighting for promotion and nothing less.

“The hunger in the lads is second to none.

“We all have a point to prove and this definitely showed that.”

Hullbridge are back in action at home to Buckhurst Hill this weekend.

And Jenkins feels the best is yet to come from Sports.

“This team has bags and bags of potential and I feel like we can achieve a lot of good things,” said Jenkins.

“Everyone wants to fight and make a name for themselves.

“There would be nothing better then lifting a few trophies with these lads come the end of the season.”

However, for that to happen Hullbridge must become more consistent.

“We’ve been very hit and miss so far,” admitted Jenkins.

“We’re a young team but the passion and hunger to go and do well will show in the long run.

“We need to now focus on Saturday and getting three points to help us stay up there.”
