ON-LOAN Southend United striker Bim Pepple is determined to make a name for himself with the Shrimpers.

Pepple will spend the rest of the season at Roots Hall after signing on a temporary basis from Luton Town.

And the 21-year-old is determined to make the most of the opportunity.

"I want to rack up goals consistently," said Pepple.

"It's obviously what I did in Canada but I haven't quite done it consistently in England so this is where I want to start putting my name out there.

"I really want to help the team finish as high up as possible too."

Pepple has scored twice in a combined total of 39 appearances while on loan with Grimsby Town, Bromley and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

But he is confident of scoring more while with Kevin Maher's side.

"When I went to Scotland I started to catch a bit of form towards the end of the season," said Pepple.

"I scored a couple of goals there and now I want to prove it in England too.

"I'm more than confident I can do it at Southend."

Pepple joined the Shrimpers at the end of last week and already feels at home in his new surroundings.

"All the guys are really friendly," said the striker.

"You can see everyone is hungry to do well this year.

"I get the impression this is a really ambitious group and I think it's an open league this season so promotion is on everyone's mind."

Pepple is eager to ensure Blues work their way up the National League table. And he jumped at the chance to join the club.

"Southend obviously has a lot of Luton connections," said Pepple.

"I got a message from Mick Harford at Luton saying there was interest from Southend.

"He said he thought it would be good for me so I spoke to the manager on deadline day and I decided it was where I wanted to be."

Pepple is now in line to make his debut at Oldham Athletic this weekend and cannot wait to be involved.

"I'm excited and these are the games you want to be involved in with big crowds," said Pepple.

"There's lots of the line and I couldn't ask for a better game to start with."
