SOUTHEND Saxons started life in Regional One South East with a 54 - 37 win against Bedford Athletic at Warners Bridge in Saturday.
In Regional Two Anglia, Westcliff drew 13-13 at Wanstead while Rochford Hundred lost 45-14 at home to Chelmsford.
In Counties One Essex, Basildon lost 24-17 at East London while in Counties Two Essex, Billericay beat Old Brentwoods 28-24 and Canvey Island won 18-8 at Harwich & Dovercourt.
However, South Woodham Ferrers lost 8-7 at Kelvedon & Feering.
