WHITE Ensign are determined to build on their derby day win against Great Wakering Rovers.

Ensign beat their landlords 2-1 at Burroughs Park in the Essex Senior League on Saturday.

And Jon Evans – who scored the first goal of the game at the weekend – is eager for Ensign to continue their the fine form.

“Everyone is determined to carry on this run for as long as we can,” said Evans.

“It’s a long season and we know nothing is decided in the first few months.

“But we will keep on working and improving in order to achieve our goals set out for this season.”

Ensign, who head to Stanway Rovers tonight, have yet to lose in the league so far this season.

And Evans was delighted to extend the unbeaten start with a fine win against high-flying Wakering.

“It’s a massive win, not only because it was a derby but because both teams were unbeaten in the league as well,” said Evans.

“We knew that it was never going to be an easy game, coming up against a well organised and talented Wakering side.

“The plan from the management team worked perfectly.

“It was a very fast paced game throughout but the boys did not stop until that final whistle.”

Ensign are now ninth in the table with nine points from five games.

And Evans is pleased with the way things are going.

“We have started really well,” said Evans.

“We were unfortunate to go out in the FA Cup the way we did but have kept up the unbeaten run in the league.

“A few new additions have added more talent to a young team and hopefully we can keep going with a tough run of games coming up. “
