SOUTHEND Saxons director of rugby Josh Ward is targeting more than just survival in Regional One South East this season.
Saxons - who were promoted from Regional Two Anglia last term - kicked off the new campaign with a 54-37 win against Bedford Athletic on Saturday.
And Ward is keen to keep on gathering momentum after 27 victories in succession.
"We've spoken a lot in pre-season about what we want to achieve and ultimately how we're going to go about it," said Ward.
"We want to be competitive every week and that's the main thing in a new league.
"We're not coming into this league just looking to survive and that's not coming from a place of arrogance, it's confidence.
"There's a belief in how we're trying to play.
"We want to be consistent and see where it takes us."
