A HARRY Brown hat-trick saw Great Wakering Rovers get back to winning ways against Athletic Newham.

Brown scored all of Wakering's goals in their 3-1 victory at Burroughs Park.

And Brown was delighted to help Marcus Bowers' side secure the win, just three days after their 2-1 defeat to White Ensign.

"We're so happy with the win because we needed to bounce back after the last game," said Brown.

"Games come thick and fast so being able to put things right quickly is so good for momentum and I believe that's what the good sides will do.

The victory sent Wakering back to the top of the Essex Senior League standings.

And Brown was pleased to play his part by scoring his second hat-trick of the season.

"I am so happy to get another hat trick," said Brown, who has already scored eight times this term.

"It's what Marcus (Bowers) has put me in the team to do, so I'm pleased I can repay him.

"It obviously helps that the boys in the team create the chances for me and it is a real team effort.

"But on a personal note I’m happy to contribute like I know I can.

"I just want to keep scoring and winning."

Elsewhere on Tuesday night, White Ensign suffered their first league defeat of the season as they lot 1-0 at Stanway Rovers.

Nathaniel Mardell scored the only goal of the game five minutes into stoppage time.
