SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Sutton United.

Only one team in it until they scored, that gave them a lift for the second half where they bullied us. Ref was awful second half.

@rayleighmartin

My wife said to me at 35 mins ‘we look like we’ve finally gelled’ at half time she took it back. Out muscled for the majority of the 2nd half. Pressed us, drew us into playing their game and forced errors. Lost momentum after Pepple's cut/ French coming on. We go again Tuesday.

@northern_shrimp

Not sure I’ve ever seen a more self-inflicted defeat. Even after Steeeeve helped us take the lead, the poor finishing, dire defensive errors and lack of shape meant it could have been more than 3-1. Least surprising bit was a goal partly from Collin’s kicking, that’s been coming.

@Moorhouse79

Dominated first half before the mixup at the back gave them their first goal. Started slowly after the break and Collin at fault for their second. Our capitulation wasn’t helped by the lack of consistency shown by the officials but we need to take something from Fylde.

@j_j_thekangaroo

After such an amazing performance Tuesday night, came to the game excited to see us build on that momentum. Majority of first half we dominated, then hit the self destruct button. Second half Sutton took over. We had a lot of the ball with no real threat. We need to learn from this.

@robertaskew7

Didn’t take our chances which arguably cost us the game, defensively we were woeful and the officiating was awful as Sutton were a very hands on team and the officials didn’t seem to care. A bad day at the office and we can’t win every game. Onto Fylde.

@callum_southend

A game of so many mistakes! Too many individual errors, thought Sutton were of the worst sides I've seen and yet we still conceded three!! Could potentially see a change between the sticks if errors in goal continue? (Obviously wasn't at fault for the first goal)

@RamseyMatt87

Dominated the first half and should really have put the game out of sight but for poor finishing. Heads went after their goal. Appiah-Forson looked lively after coming on. Bonne had some nice touches and should have scored with a free header. Pepple put in a huge shift again.

@Smudgedann

So much in control in the first half until Sunday league defending cost us a goal. Collin has been shocking with his distribution and kicking this season and today it cost us. Although the club were right in their actions, we are missing Kensdale at the back . Still ,on to Fylde.

@MatthewYeatts53

They were no better than us, it just seems like we can't finish teams off when we get the chance to and we are also a sucker for conceding a cheap goal. Very frustrating day.

@Nickhardysufc

I thought Sutton pressed us hard and very effectively, and as a result we looked very disjointed. Pepple’s head injury took the wind from our sails and then gifting them two goals either side of half-time sealed our fate. A bad day at the office.

@lesleymatt

Incredibly disappointing. The better team for most of the first half, but needed that second goal. Pepple should have made it 2-0, but didn't take his chance. Regretted that miss just before half time when an error let Sutton back in the game. We got bullied in the second half.

@secondalibi74

We were the masters of our own downfall today. Cruising until Sutton’s equaliser and then couldn’t find the right gear to respond in the second half. Massive improvement required for Tuesday night.
