ROCHFORD Hundred head coach Danny Cleare was left mystified after his side failed to beat Woodford on Saturday.
Rochford lost the Regional Two Anglia clash 33-27 on the road.
But Cleare took encouragement from Hundred’s display.
“Saturday was a much improved performance and it was a mystery how we didn’t win the game,” said Cleare.
“We were 13 points up with 10 minutes to play and we lost to a try in the last play of the game.
“We were so dominant in the second half until two injuries to key forwards happened at the same time with about 20 minutes to go and we just lost that experience up front and lost our set piece.
“Although extremely disappointed not to win the game, there were still so many positives to take.”
Rochford have now been beaten in their first two games of the season and host Westcliff this weekend.
