JACK Bridge wants to get Southend United's season back on track tonight.

The Shrimpers suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Sutton United at Roots Hall on Saturday.

And Bridge is eager to bounce back in this evening's rearranged encounter at AFC Fylde.

"It's massive we have this game and it's probably a good thing we have one so quickly because we want to put it right," said Bridge.

"The game didn't go the way we wanted it to on Saturday but Tuesday is a chance to bounce back now and we want to make sure that happens."

The Shrimpers had initially been due to take on Fylde at the end of August but the match was postponed after Kevin Maher's squad got stuck on a train.

And Bridge wants to make things happen tonight - whatever position he is playing.

The 28-year-old has switched between central and wide roles throughout the start of the start of the season.

But the 28-year-old insists he feels comfortable in either role.

"I've played in the middle and I've played out wide too which is something I can do," said Bridge.

"Tuesday night I was up top and it worked out well.

"Saturday was different and it worked out better when I went out wide a little bit but every game is different.

"If I can get on the ball then hopefully I can make things happen."

Victory in this evening's rearranged clash would move the Shrimpers into the top 10 of the National League table.

But Bridge admits the long journey us not ideal for a midweek match.

"It's tough and this game obviously wasn't meant to be a Tuesday night," said Bridge.

"It's been chucked in and it's not ideal to have to do this on a Tuesday but it's the position we're in and we'll be ready to go.

"We've shown over the years we can deal whatever is chucked at us.

"We'll get on with it and look to get points on the board."

However, Fylde will also be keen to get back on track in their first outing since parting company with manager Chris Beech.

But Bridge will not be worrying about what impact that change could have on the home-team.

"When things like that happen at clubs there can be a little bounce but we know every team is tough no matter what," said Bridge.

"We don't know what will happen or what will change but we've got to focus on what we do.

"We'll prepare the way we always do and take the game to them."
