BROMLEY boss Andy Woodman is backing Taylor Foran to shine for Southend United.

Foran has joined the Shrimpers from the League Two side in a month long deal.

And Woodman is fully aware what his centre-back will be bringing to Blues.

“I worked with Taylor at Arsenal so I’ve known him five or six years now,” explained Woodman.

“He came up through the academy there and he’s a strong boy who loves defending but he can play as well.

“He’s very comfortable with the ball at his feet and he’s a model professional too.

“I brought him into this football club to be one for the future for us.

“He knew that and he’s been a great signing for us.”

Foran went straight into Southend’s starting line-up for Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Gateshead at Roots Hall.

And Woodman - who had his own loan spell with the Shrimpers back in 2000 - is pleased to see Foran in action for Kevin Maher’s team.

“I’m really chuffed Kev took my stance on Taylor and has opted to take him on loan,” said Woodman.

“He’s a particularly good loan for Southend and he will be good for Southend the way Kev plays.

“That aspect of his upbringing from Arsenal will be good for both parties and I think on top of that he’ll be playing in front of a good, vocal fanbase there.

“It will be a good experience all round and it’s a good level too.

“There are no easy games in that league.”

Foran joined the Shrimpers after Harry Taylor was sidelined by a hamstring issue and the 20-year-old will be hoping to help his new side get back to winning ways against Maidenhead United at Roots Hall on Saturday.
