SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher has stressed the need for togetherness ahead of tomorrow’s match against Maidenhead United at Roots Hall.

The Shrimpers head into the game sitting 16th in the National League standings.

And Maher knows Blues must dig deep to get back on track.

“We’re going through a bit of a sticky spell and it’s important everyone sticks together,” said Maher.

“As a club we’ve been through a lot harder than this and the fans stuck by the players and the players stuck by the club and myself.

“We’ve got to stick together again on the football pitch now and that’s part and parcel of it.

“Not everything is going to be plain sailing but we’ve got to work hard and keep doing the right things.

“If we do that hopefully the results will come.”

Blues first chance to get back on track comes against Maidenhead United tomorrow.

But Maher knows Alan Devonshire will make the visitors tough to beat at Roots Hall.

"He's done an incredible job there," said Maher.

"They were down there last year but he got them back again.

"They lose players but he's been incredible and you have to admire that.

"They're consistent every year and how competitive they are is a credit to them.

"But we've got to focus on ourselves and get ourselves right before anything else."

And Maher has boosted by his side's preparations in training.

"We've had a good week's training and we're looking forward to getting out there and hopefully getting the result," he added.
