SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher has backed Collin Andeng Ndi to come out out his run of poor form as a better goalkeeper.

Maher looks set to select Andeng Ndi between the sticks for Saturday's clash with Maidenhead United at Roots Hall.

And he believes the custodian has not been helped by having an unsettled back-line in front of him.

"What you've had with Collin and the team is that it's been such a settled team," said Maher.

"Everyone knew their jobs but one or two have changed now and this is an experience he's got to learn from.

"That's part of growing up as a footballer because when you come out the other side it makes you a better player.

"He will do that without a shadow of a doubt.

"He's a young keeper who has been unbelievable for us.

"It's a learning curve but we stick together and come out the other side.

"When we do we'll all be stronger for it."

However, the Shrimpers will again be without defender Harry Taylor (hamstring), midfielders Cav Miley (back) and Oli Coker (ankle) plus striker Danny Waldron

"Cav's been doing special work for his back and that's ongoing and Harry Taylor is a still a few days away from being able to do full training," said Maher.

"Danny Waldron has been out on the grass for a little bit today and Oli Coker has been too.

"Every week that goes by they're getting closer."
