EIGHT Southend United players took part in an entertaining darts tournament to raise funds for South East and Central Essex Mind.

Adam Crowther, Joe Gubbins, Nathan Ralph, Oli Coker Gus Scott-Morriss, Jack Bridge, Harry Taylor and George Moncur all stepped up to the oche at a packed Chalkwell Park Rooms.

And it was Bridge who triumphed in the final, beating Scott-Morriss 3-1.

"It's been a really good night for a great cause," said Bridge.

"Sadly it's something which has affected the club with players in the past and it's good to be able to do nights like this to raise money."

Dubbed, the night of National League darts the players took part ahead of this week's Mental Health Day and was superbly called by Dan Weidner.

The players chose their own walk out music while shirts were also provided by Darts Corner.

The event, which was sponsored by JSL Window Cleaning Services raised £2,600 but the full amount has yet to be calculated.

The darts tournament followed Southend United's Match for Mind which took place against Maidenhead on Saturday.
