JACK Bridge insists Southend United have the togetherness to come through an indifferent run of results.

The Shrimpers head to Eastleigh in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday having triumphed just once in their last six games.

But Bridge - who won a charity darts tournament involving him and seven team-mates this week - feels Blues have already shown the resilience they possess.

“As a team we may be going through something of a sticky spell but we’ve been through a hell of a lot worse in the past couple of seasons,” said Bridge.

“You can you see the team spirit we have and we’ll get through this.

“We’re all so together and nights like this with the darts do help too.”

Bridge was nicknamed the Westcliff Wizard for the darts show which has already raised £2,600 for South East and Central Essex Mind.

And the left wing-back was pleased to triumph after beating Gus Scott-Morriss 3-1 in the final.

“I’m buzzing,” said Bridge.

“It was a tight game with Gus and it’s pleasing to win.

“Gus is very good and we’ve got quite a few boys who can throw to be fair.

“When you’re up there with the nerves as well anything can happen.

“I’ve not done anything like this before and it’s a completely different game when you’re up there like that.

“It was actually horrible but good fun at the same time and it’s all to raise money for a really good cause.”

Bridge will now be aiming for victory back on the football pitch this weekend.

But he did fear his darts success may have been snatched away from him after initially failing to take his chance to win.

“I missed the double to win it and then he hit it and I was thinking he could come back here but it was good fun,” said Bridge.

“I think I’ll keep my trophy at the training ground so I see it every day.”
