SOUTHEND United supporters are being urged to nominate their community’s local heroes for recognition at Roots Hall.

Club sponsors c2c have teamed up with the Echo to offer those going above and beyond with their efforts the opportunity to attend the Shrimpers’ home game with Tamworth on Saturday October 26 free of charge.

And c2c's Managing Director Rob Mullen is pleased to be able to reward those who regularly put others before themselves.

“c2c is delighted to be partnering with the Southend Echo to give ten worthy ‘local heroes’ the opportunity to enjoy Southend United’s next home game with Tamworth on us,” said Mullen.

“Through our work at our stations and with businesses, charities and schools in the local area, we know that there are many unsung heroes out there who regularly go above and beyond to support the city of Southend and activities and events in the communities we serve.

“As a thank you from c2c, we would like to see these people recognised and rewarded with a fantastic afternoon at Roots Hall.”

Ten of those nominated will receive a pair of tickets for the National League clash later this month.

And Mullen is keen for as many fans as possible to get involved.

He added: “Please do take a moment to nominate someone who you feel is deserving of this prize, or perhaps put forward a friend or colleague who may not often get the chance to go to a football match.”

To nominate your local hero please email chris.phillips@newsquest.co.uk with details of their work in their community.

Nominations must be received by 12 noon next Tuesday.

Winners will be contacted by email and will also have their tickets sent to them,
