SOUTHEND Saxons director of rugby Josh Ward is excited to see his side take on table-topping Letchworth Garden City tomorrow.
Letchworth head to Warners Bridge having triumphed in all five of their matches so far this season.
But Ward is looking forward to the Regional One South East contest.
“What we have shown in glimpses this season is that we can mix it with the big boys,” said Ward.
“Tring last week were a very good side especially at home and we’ve had a couple of tussles with Letchworth a couple of years ago.
“There were only a couple of points in it so we fully understand we will have to be at our best if we’re going to compete on Saturday.
“Knowing the group as long as prepare well we’re excited to see where we’re at against the league leaders.”
Southend go into the game sitting seventh in the standings after losing their last three games.
In Regional Two Anglia this weekend, eighth placed Rochford Hundred head to Eton Manor while table-toping Westcliff go to second from bottom Holt.
In Counties One Essex, 10th placed Billericay are at home to Old Cooperians who are 11th in the table.
In Counties Two Essex, sixth placed Canvey Island are at home to ninth placed Old Brentwoods while second placed Billericay go to Clacton who are 10th
