SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher opted for a change in goal against Tamworth due to a fitness issue surrounding Collin Andeng Ndi.
Maher handed on loan Lincoln City goalkeeper Zach Jeacock his debut between the sticks for the National League clash at Roots Hall.
And Maher revealed the alteration was down to Andeng Ndi picking up a thigh problem in Wednesday night's 0-0 draw at Aldershot Town.
"Collin was stretching his top of his thigh during the second half against Aldershot," said Maher.
"It affected his kicking a little bit and I didn't want to risk anything going wrong with that because we're going to need him.
"I thought Zach did ever so well though.
"We've watched him in training and he kicks it a long way, he's composed and did well."
The Shrimpers triumphed 2-0 against Tamworth and secured a fourth clean sheet in succession.
