SOUTHEND United head coach Kevin Maher cannot wait to see Shrimpers fans back in the North Bank.
Work has been completed in the north west corner of the ground to allow it to re-open for Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Charlton Athletic at Roots Hall.
But Shrimpers supporters will soon be able to sit there themselves and it is a move Maher will welcome.
"Charlton will bring a big following as I know we've opened up more of the ground,” said Maher.
“But if we can get our fans in there eventually and back in the North Bank that would be brilliant and my biggest wish.
“Saturday will be a great atmosphere and one our fans will relish."
Saturday’s crowd is set to be the biggest at Roots Hall since 10,779 fans watched Blues beat Sunderland 2-1 in May 2019.
