WHITE Ensign beat Benfleet 1-0 in the Essex Senior League on Saturday - despite playing most of the match with 10 men.
Ensign had Billy Bonham-Dare sent off after eight minutes but still picked up all three points with skipper Nathan Wilson heading home the only goal of the game.
Ensign are now 10th in the table.
Elsewhere, fourth placed Great Wakering won 1-0 at Romford in a repeat of last season’s FA Vase final.
Harry Brown scored the only goal of the game.
Hullbridge Sports drew 3-3 at home to Sawbridgeworth Town and are 16th in the table.
Sports led 3-1 at the break with Louis Bragg bagging a brace and Tobias Braney scoring from the penalty spot.
But the visitors, who are second from bottom in the standings, fought back to secure a share of the spoils.
In the Isthmian Premier Division, second placed Billericay Town were held to a 0-0 draw at Whitehawk but there was joy for Bowers & Pitsea who beat Hendon 1-0 at the Len Salmon Stadium with Samir Alii on target.
The win lifted Bowers to 17th in the standings but there was disappointment for 11th placed Canvey Island who lost 3-2 at home to Chichester City.
Ewan Sanchez and Jaxon Brown both netted for the Gulls but it was not enough to prevent defeat.
In Isthmian North, fifth placed Basildon United let slip a two goal lead to lose 3-2 at home to table-topping Tilbury on Friday night.
Ramiah Mills and Darren Esuka put the Bees in front but the Dockers came back to triumph.
Saturday’s action saw Concord Rangers beaten 2-1 at Heybridge Swifts.
Thomas Stagg scored a penalty for the Beach Boys who are now 14th.
