NOOR Husin wants Southend United's FA Cup heartbreak to propel their push for the play-offs.

The Shrimpers suffered a 4-3 defeat to League One side Charlton Athletic in Saturday;s first round tie after conceding in the dying seconds of extra time.

But, despite being hurt by the result at Roots Hall, Husin is now putting his focus onto the National League and trying to secure a top seven finish.

"There were loads of positives to take from Saturday, especially in terms of chances and scores but to lose it like we did was heartbreaking," said Husin.

"The goal we conceded as well made it tough to take and it definitely takes a couple of days to get over.

"But we can take confidence from how we played and be happy with the performance.

"We need to keep that going in the league now and the play-offs definitely has to be the aim."

The Shrimpers head into Saturday's clash with Yeovil Town sitting 14th in the table.

But Husin knows the Glovers will be tough to beat.

"They're in the play-off position positions at the moment and they've started the season really well," said Husin.

"It will be a difficult game but we've been doing well and want to keep that going.

"Even Saturday was a 3-3 draw after the 90 minutes against a very good team so we're starting to show what we can."

And Husin is eager to help that continue by scoring his first goal of the season.

"I feel I've been contributing in different ways but I'd definitely like to be scoring," said Husin.

"I've played in different roles and picking up results is obviously the most important thing but I'd like to help by scoring."
