GREAT Wakering Rovers moved second in the Essex Senior League standings with an emphatic 6-1 win against Sawbridgeworth Town tonight.
Callum Boylan bagged a brace for Rovers at Burroughs Park while Bradley Bennett, Harry Brown, Raheem Gray and Dominic Locke also worked their way onto the score-sheet.
And Wakering boss Marcus Bowers was full of smiles after the final whistle.
"It's really pleasing," said Bowers.
"To score six goals is always going to be pleasing.
"We were disappointed to concede but that's football.
"We missed a few early chances and didn't score until the 35th minute.
"We dug in and once the first one come we were very good after that.
"We scored some very good goals and on another night we could've scored more.
"But it's three points and I don't really mind how they come."
Wakering will take a break from their league campaign this weekend as they host Great Yarmouth Town in the second round of the FA Vase.
And Bowers is dreaming of another good run in the competition after losing 3-0 to Romford at Wembley in last season's final.
"We've not really had the opportunity to look forward to this game until now," said Bowers.
"We take it game by game and it's time to switch our focus to Saturday now.
"Hopefully we can recreate what we did last season and go even one better too.
"It will be tough and we know teams will be looking at us now.
"People will see themselves as underdogs against us whereas it was the other way round last season.
"It's going to be different and we know Saturday will be tough but the boys are more than ready.
"After tonight they will go into it feeling confident too."
