WESTCLIFF moved six points clear at the top of the Regional Two Anglia table after winning 40-24 at Woodford.
The victory means Westcliff have still yet to be beaten this season.
But head coach Jimmy Rea was not completely satisfied with the performance.
“We had the ascendancy but ill discipline allowed them back into the game and we dogged out a win,” said Rea.
“The score maybe flattered us a bit but the resilience we have built up over the last couple of years shows and we play until the last whistle.
“It was also a great return to first team action for Joe Saunders.
“He had a a knee injury in pre season but scored a hat-trick on Saturday."
