BILLERICAY Town got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against Bowers & Pitsea at New Lodge on Saturday.
A penalty from Moses Emmanuel and a strike from Ashley Nzala was enough to secure all three points despite a late effort from the visitors Jacob Bland.
The win kept Billericay fourth in the Isthmian Premier Division with Bowers third from bottom.
Elsewhere, 10th placed Canvey Island lost 3-2 at table-topping Dover Athletic despite twice taking the lead through Elliott Ronto.
In Isthmian North, 14th placed Concord Rangers beat Mildenhall Town 2-0 at the Aspect Arena with Simo Mbonkwi breaking the deadlock before Amine Sassi completed the scoring from the penalty spot four minutes from time.
In the Essex Senior League, fourth placed Great Wakering lost 2-0 at home to Barking while White Ensign moved 10th after a 3-1 win at Romford.
Ellis Devereux bagged a brace for Ensign while Riley Weir was also on target.
Benfleet are 14th after losing 3-2 in an eventful encounter at Saffron Walden Town.
Billy Carter put Benfleet in front after just 15 minutes before the hosts levelled just three minutes later with Cameron Harris scoring an own goal.
Saffron Walden had goalkeeper Jake Anderson sent off in the 61st minute but were still able to take the lead 16 minutes from time with Adalberto Pinto.
John-Joe Slater appeared to have rescued a share of the spoils for Benfleet with a 90th minute equaliser but Kevin Wright netted seven minutes into stoppage time to secure all three points for the home team.
Third from bottom Hullbridge Sports were also beaten as they lost 3-1 at home to second placed Woodford Town.
An early penalty from Owen Bellamy for Hullbridge ahead before the visitors quickly replied with an equaliser from Marcus Painter.
However, Hullbridge had full-back Oscar Jones sent off in the 55th minute and the visitors took full advantage to record another win,
