SOUTHEND United skipper Nathan Ralph says the Shrimpers are eyeing up a good run in the FA Trophy this season.

Blues will travel to Brentwood Town for an all Essex third round tie following yesterday's draw.

And Ralph stressed Kevin Maher's side will be taking the Trophy seriously.

“We’ll focus on picking up points in the league games we have coming up but when it’s time for the Trophy we really want a good run in it this season,” said the defender.

“We know anything can happen in cup competitions and it’s a big game for Brentwood so we’ll have to be ready for a difficult game.

"It's a competition we'll be taking seriously for sure but the focus is very much on the league right now and this weekend’s game.”

Blues, who host National League leaders Forest Green Rovers this weekend, have yet to go beyond the fifth round of the FA Trophy.
