RUGBY: Jake Collins feels Rochford Hundred’s emphatic win against Holt was the result of the team’s hard work in training.
Hundred triumphed 27-0 at Magnolia Road to end a run of three successive defeats.
And Collins was delighted to get back to winning ways.
“Saturday was an enjoyable game to be a part of,” said Collins.
“We played in front of a large home crowd and it was good to get the win for them, the club and ourselves.
“A lot of work has been put in behind the scenes and it was good to finally see that hard work paying off.
“However, there are still areas to develop which was also highlighted during the match.”
Rochford remain third from bottom in the Regional Two Anglia standings.
And Collins is eager to build on the victory.
“We are keen to continue building from this win and keep the momentum going,” said Collins.
“Our next few games will be tough but as we continue to develop as a team we feel we can keep gaining some points.
“However, we will take each week as it comes.”
Rochford are without a game this weekend before travelling to sixth placed Wanstead next time out.
And Collins can see progress being made under the guidance of director of rugby Kevin Harman who was appointed at the end of September.
“There has been some changes with coaching staff who have restructured our game strategy,” said Collins.
“All the players have bought into this change and it’s now beginning to show in matches.
“One of the big changes was in the way we defend and that can be seen from the result on Saturday with Holt not being able to score any points.”
But Collins remains hungry for more.
“Our hopes for the rest of the season is to keep developing and improving as a team,” said Collins.
“We can then cement ourselves in the league which will give us a good foundation in the future.
“It was always going to be a challenge having a restructure when the season has already commenced but from what we have achieved so far we will keep building week by week.”
