SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is understood to have requested a personal hearing after opting to appeal against his FA misconduct charge.
Maher was charged following his red card during the Shrimpers’ 1-0 defeat to Yeovil Town a fortnight ago.
But the Blues head coach has opted to deny the charge.
Maher was cautioned in the 20th minute of his side’s clash against the Glovers before he was sent off just before the break after appealing for a penalty.
It is believed Maher was ordered from the dug-out, on the advice of fourth official Tommy Breen, after he was adjudged to have raised his arms in a disrespectful manner.
Maher has not had to serve a touchline ban as part of dismissal.
