SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher must decide whether to stick or twist against the Cards tonight.
The Shrimpers got onto the front foot against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday after switching from 3-5-2 to a 4-3-3 formation.
And Maher is now mulling over what way to go at Woking this evening.
“I don’t know yet but we’ll have a look,” said the Blues boss.
“We’ll decide when we have a look at Woking and look at what we think is the best way for us to go.
“We’ve changed formation loads this year and if it fits the game we’ll have a look at it but if it doesn’t then we’ll try and do what we’re good at.”
The Shrimpers stayed 16th in the National League standings after fighting back to draw 2-2 with Forest Green at the weekend.
But Maher is not giving much away ahead of this evening’s encounter “I’m not going to tell you what we’re doing and you’ll have to wait until kick off but we take everything into consideration,” said Maher.
“I think all teams do the same and sometimes they will look to match you up a lot of the time.
“We’ve tended to stick to our principles of how we play and work and tweak things within that.”
However, Maher stressed there was plenty of freedom for his players whatever the formation will be.
“What you look like when you press might be different to when you’ve got the ball and when you haven’t,” said Maher.
“It’s pretty fluid and if you stopped play at any given time you’d see a different formation.
“Starting points can be different but we’ll take everything into consideration.”
Woking are currently 18th in the table, two points behind Blues.
