JAMES Morton believes Southend United have the togetherness to get their season back on track.
Blues' 0-0 draw at Woking on Tuesday night made it five games without a win for Kevin Maher's side.
But Morton is certain the Shrimpers' spirit will stand them in good stead.
"The group is together now," said Morton.
"We've been with each other a long time, we're getting used to each other and relationships are growing more on the pitch which obviously helps.
"You'll see more and more that we will fight for each other and we work really hard.
"We need a bit more quality but that will come I'm sure."
Blues sit 16th in the National League standings after the midweek stalemate against the Cards.
But Morton felt it was a good point for the Shrimpers who played the majority of the second half with 10 men after Cav Miley was sent off.
"It's more a point gained," said the midfielder.
"It's hard to say that we'd take a point but with how the game went I think you do take a point at least.
"It's frustrating really but being down to 10 men it's difficult.
"The whole game was a scrap but we backed ourselves at half-time to stay in the game, win individual battles, second balls, hit the channels and play into our front line as quickly as possible but going down to 10 men the game changes a bit.
"We had to defend, get a clean sheet and hopefully hit them on the break but it wasn't meant to be."
However, Morton thought referee Steve Parkinson made it tough for Blues.
"The referee was quite difficult all game," said Morton.
"He was very quick to blow his whistle. I didn't have the greatest angle to see the first or second one (with Cav) but we will see what the club will say.
"The ref was quite soft in terms of giving them a lot of decisions but it's a tricky one.
"We defended really well as a team and that's a real positive."
But Blues will now aim to get back to winning ways at Halifax Town this weekend.
"It's two unbeaten, two games and if we win on Saturday it's five points from the week which is alright," said Morton.
"Going into that we'll make sure we try to get a clean sheet and there's competition for places too which is good."
