SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher was pleased to end a demanding week with a 2-0 win at Halifax Town.
Goals from Bim Pepple and Adam Crowther saw the Shrimpers get back to winning ways at the Shay.
And Maher was full of praise for the performance.
“I’m delighted,” said Maher.
“It’s the end of a tough week with different challenges and to end it with a win, two goals and a clean sheet is obviously really good.
“I was delighted for Bim with the first goal and I thought we played well in the first half. “We were in control of the game, they had one or two flash across but I thought our control and tempo was good.”
And Blues were able to build on things in the second half with Adam Crowther sealing the win with a impressive header from James Morton’s corner.
“We work hard on set pieces but we work hard on everything – shape, tactics all of it,” said Maher.
“I’ll never doubt the character of the group but we’ve had is a stop start pre-season and stop start recruitment.
“The tactics were spot on today and the shape was good.
“It’s all about personnel and hitting the right people on the right area.
“I thought we did that today and the coaching was top drawer again this week.
“ We’ve scored from set piece and all the work myself, Daz, Benno and all the staff have done showed.”
