FIRST half headers from Adam Barrett and Paul Furlong meant Southend United finished their pre season schedule with a 2-1 win at Wycombe Wanderers this afternoon.
Barrett nodded home a Nicky Bailey free-kick from six yards after just two minutes and his side then doubled their lead with 40 minutes on the clock when Furlong headed a left wing corner from Franck Moussa.
Southend played some entertaining football during the first half but Wycombe, who are now managed by former Blues boss Peter Taylor, got into the game after the break.
As a result they reduced the Shrimpers' lead in the 61st minute with a close range volley from Magno Silva Vieira.
The Seasiders started with Luton Town's Lewis Emanuel at left-back but manager Steve Tilson will have been concerned to see both Damian Scannell and James Walker limp off injured.
