DALE BRIGHTLY'S penalty save inspired a gutsy Concord comeback on Saturday and condemned Folkestone to defeat on their first-ever visit to Thames Road.

The Beach Boys ran out 2-1 winners with goals from Harry Elmes and Ashley Miller.

Elswhere in the Ryman Premier, BILLERICAY continued their impressive march towards the summit with a hard-fought win over struggling Horsham.

Goals from James Lawson and Anthony Robinson secured a 2-1 win which saw Town move into third place in the league, five points behind the leaders, Sutton.

But CANVEY were well-beaten at The Kingsmeadow on Saturday by title-chasing Kingstonian. The Gulls went down 3-1; Danny Heale got their consolation with his eighth of the season.

And it was another bad day for AVELEY as they slumped to a 3-0 win at in-form Cray Wanderers.

RYMAN ONE NORTH

A brilliant late goal denied Great Wakering a point at league leaders Needham Market.

Ryan Wilkinson’s men had taken the lead at Bloomfield’s and held that advantage at the interval.

But goals for Rovers from Jack Carlisle and Bradley Walsh were cancelled out by a second-half hat-trick from Craig Parker.

EAST THURROCK had an excellent 2-1 win at promotion rivals Thamesmead Town. Kris Newby scored both Rocks goals.

Michael Toner scored the only goal of the game as TILBURY picked up a much-needed win at Leyton.

And GRAYS needed a late equaliser from Alex Osborn to earn a 1-1 draw at home against Ware.

THURROCK returned from their longest journey of the season with another depressing defeat.

Dean Cracknell scored a consolation penalty for Fleet in a 2-1 defeat at West-super-Mare.

ESSEX SENIOR

BASILDON UNITED lost 1-0 at Takeley, but SOUTHEND MANOR won 2-0 against London APSA.

And it was a disappointing end to HULLBRIDGE SPORTS' FA Vase run as they fell to a 5-1 defeat at home to Leverstock Green.
