BILEL Mohsni was thrilled to finally score for Southend United in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley — but he would have much preferred all three points.
The French-born centre-back thundered home a second half header to help Blues secure a draw at Roots Hall.
But Mohsni was disappointed not to have won the game.
“It was very good to get a goal because I had missed a few chances at the start of the season, but it would have meant more if we had gone on to win the game,” said Mohnsi, 23.
“I would rather not score and we win, but at the same time I’m glad to have got my first goal.”
Mohsni’s header, which came from a Peter Gilbert free-kick, kept Southend 15th in the League Two table.
However, the visitors played the final 12 minutes with only 10 men after Peter Murphy was dismissed for a late lunge on Anthony Grant.
Southend were unable to take advantage of their numerial supremacy, but Mohsni is still confident his side can soon climb back up the table.
“We have had lots of players coming in and out of the team, but I’m sure we will get better during the second half of the season,” said Mohsni. “We will know each other better by then and I think the results will improve.”
