SOFIENE Zaaboub believes the best has yet to come from him at Southend United.

The left winger, who looks set to take on Macclesfield Town in tonight’s first round FA Cup replay at Roots Hall, produced his best performance yet for Blues against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

But the Frenchman is adamant there is still more to come.

“There is more to come from me and I’m sure I will get better the more I play,” said the 27-year-old.

“I’m pleased to be back in the team and now I need to work as hard as I can to stay in there and show what I can do.”

Zaaboub had a year out of the game last season due to family problems in France.

And he endured an injury ravaged return to the game at Roots Hall.

“It was a frustrating time for me and I picked up three different injuries and had to have quite a lot of time out which is something I didn’t need,” said Zaaboub.

“It wasn’t nice missing matches and it came at a bad time because I was looking to get my fitness back.

“That’s happened now though and I was pleased with how I played against Accrington Stanley.

“Hopefully I did enough to keep my place in the team and I can now do well when we play Macclesfield too.”

Zaaboub has now made five starts for Blues this season.

The former Swindon Town and Walsall wide-man was in the starting line-up for the first meeting with Macclesfield which ended in a 2-2 draw 10 days ago.

And he is confident his side can come out on top in the replay tonight.

“I think we can get a result against them,” said Zaaboub.

“We had chances to win the game in the final 20 minutes against them before and being at home I’m sure we can do it and get through.”

The winners of tonight’s tie will go on to face either Huddersfield Town or Cambridge United in the second round.
