STUART Bingham lost in the final of the Phuket Cup in Thailand.
The Basildon professional went down 5-3 in the final to Thailand’s Thepchaiya Uh-nooh.
Bingham was the only ranked player who remained in the tournament which saw Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon (82), Alfie Burden (57), Ratchapol Pu-Ob-Orm (67) and Issara Kachaiwong (87) all fail to reach the final.
Thepchaiya had the advantage of home support but few expected him to beat world number 17 Bingham in the best of nine frame final at the Royal Paradise Hotel, Patong.
Bingham went two frames up before Thepchaiya replied. Bingham then took the third to lead 3-1.
But then a combination of good snooker from Thepchaiya and complacency from Bingham handed four frames in a row to the Thai.
Thepchaiya won a cheque for 100,000 baht and the Sangsom Phuket Cup.
