JOSH Mann was full of smiles after winning the BTMK 3k fun run for the second year in succession.
The 14-year-old, who is a member of Southend Athletics Club, finished in a time of 11 minutes and 21 seconds.
And that saw him cross the line one minute and 22 seconds clear of the second-placed Stephen Pidgeon.
“I’m very pleased to have won again,” said Mann.
“I’ve been suffering with a heel injury but that’s all cleared now and it’s great to have come first in the race again.”
Mann was followed home by Billericay’s Pidgeon who just saw off James Hudson on the line after taking a wrong turning towards the end.
“The final corner wasn’t marked out and I missed where I had to go,” said Pidgeon.
“Everyone seemed to find it but I had to come back on myself.
“Thankfully I was able to still finish second.”
Sinead Clark was also delighted after becoming the first girl to cross the finish line.
The 10-year-old from Benfleet Running Club completed the course in 13 minutes and 32 seconds. And she was thrilled by her performance.
“I’m very pleased to have won,” said Clark.
Her Benfleet Running Club team-mate Maddy Goward was the second girl to finish in 13 minutes, 56 seconds while Faye McDowell was third in 14 minutes, 18 seconds.
