THORPE Hall’s Matt Southgate enjoyed a career-best result as he finished second in the Scottish Hydro Challenge.
The 22-year-old, in his first year as a professional, shot 12-under at the Macdonald Spey Valley Golf Course in the Scottish Highlands.
That earned him prize money of 24,200 euros and moved him in 19th place in the Challenge Tour rankings.
And it could have been even better because he held a two-shot lead going into the final round.
But he could not hold off the challenge of Frenchman Edouard Dubois, as he completed a near flawless final 18 holes to pip Southgate by a single stoke.
Southgate is currently in Sweden preparing for the Princess by Schüco tournment.
